News & Notes:
- Scholastic Book Order - We will be participating in the Scholastic Book Club throughout the year. Book Club flyers will be going home. You can also order online if you are interested. Information is here on our class website.
- Picture Day - is coming up on 09/28/2021! Order online here.
- NWEA Testing - we are almost finished with NWEA testing. Once all tests are complete I will send home a summary of your child's scores.

What We're Learning:
- Writing - We are working on writing a paragraph including details and using correct capitalization.
- Reading - We have been comparing and contrasting two different stories. Next week we'll be focusing on identifying character traits.
- Social Studies - After a brief introduction on the four areas of social studies (geography, economics, history and political science), we will begin our first unit on geography.
- Science - Our first unit of focus will be life science. We will be investigating how plants and animals use their structures to promote growth and survival.
- Math - Our initial focus in math is understanding place value.
- Social Emotional Learning - We use the "Choose Love" curriculum here at Bennie. This week we talked about how we can use our breathing to help us focus and regulate our emotions.
